Bulldog Bulletin - April 28- May 2, 2025

Our fabulous school council has also organized an evening with Valerie Tih who will offer helpful parenting strategies and tools on Monday, April 28th in our gym. Teachers will be placing students in classes at the end of May based on projected numbers for next year. E-mails stating the name of your child(ren)’s teacher(s) will be sent the last week of August. Turnaround day takes place near the end of September so this placement is subject to change should our numbers change. Requests for specific teachers are difficult to honour as teachers may not be teaching the same grade, and class placements are based on balancing classes to the best of our abilities taking into consideration the strengths and needs of all of our students. If you have a request based on the learning needs of your student, please send an email to [email protected] with the understanding that we will do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee a specific teacher. “How to Talk So Kids Will Listen” School Council Presentation on April 28th in the Sunnybrae gym from 6:30-8:30 pm.
Valerie Tih, from Joyful Coaching, will speak to us about “Shifting from Compliance to Cooperation”. A talk for parents who feel frustrated by the gap between who you want to be as a parent and the day-to-day realities of parenting. Tickets for Musical
Come out to see Sunnybrae Public School's musical: Knight School...Nine brave students pack up their things, leave home and go to a new school to learn how to become knights. Their teacher, Merlin, decides that he will send them off on three quests to learn everything they need to know to be knighted. Loosely based on nine of SCDSB’s character traits, we follow the adventures of our brave squires to discover if they will acquire the character trait required.
Two evening performances are open to parents, family members and friends: May 8th & 9th. The play will run from 6:00 to around 8:00 PM in the school gym (doors will open at 5:40 pm). Late arrivals will only be allowed to enter between acts so please be on time. The cost of tickets is $5.00 each. You may purchase tickets for both nights. Tickets are just available to cast member families until April 30th. After that date, they they will be available to the whole school community. Seating is limited due to fire codes.
Yard Sale
Sunnybrae’s 2nd Annual Community Trunk Sale will be held on Sunday, May 4th in the Stroud Arena parking lot from 10 am until 4 pm. Vendor fees are $20 to rent two parking spaces. Fees must be prepaid by or before Saturday May 3 to reserve a vendor spot. As a vendor you may sell anything you like and the money is yours to keep. Vendors are responsible for their own cash floats/payments from individuals. If you need a table, you must bring your own that will fit into the space provided. If you have saleable items but do not wish to be a vendor, you may donate your items to our Community Table (please note: due to time/space constraints we CANNOT accept clothes or stuffed toys at the Community Table). All proceeds from the sale of items at the Community Table will support activities at Sunnybrae Public School. Vendor set up is 8 am-10 am; Community Table donations are accepted after 9 am on the day of the sale, or by prior arrangement. Please contact [email protected] with any questions. Hot Lunch Program (all proceeds go towards technology and athletics)
- The weekly deadline to place lunch orders for the upcoming week is Sunday at 12:00 PM; Lunchbox is unable to accept any orders after this deadline.
- If you need to make any updates or changes to your lunch orders, please do so before Sunday at 12:00 PM for the upcoming week.
- If there is a school closure/buses are canceled, lunches (both subs and pizza) will be canceled, and a credit will be issued to your Lunchbox account within 3 business days. Questions? Contact the Lunchbox support team by email at [email protected]
Safe Arrival system for SCDSB schools – email [email protected] or call 1-888-885-8065 to report an absence (we recommend using the email where possible as there are ongoing problems with the phone messaging). Parents/guardians are responsible for reporting a child’s absence/arriving late prior to the start of the school day. Do not wait for the call from the school.
