Bulldog Bulletin - May 26 to 30, 2025
Our Grade 8’s spent a wonderful week in Ottawa. Thank you to Mr. Butcher, Mme. Evelyn and Mrs. Gallant for providing this incredible opportunity for our students to see their capital city in all its glory! Also this week, our Grade 5s and 6s had the chance to learn about conversions and tries in the fun game of rugby. We are grateful to the SCDSB for offering this free program! Our Grade 3 and 6 classes have been busy preparing for the EQAO assessment and Grade 3 students will write it next week. Finally, we are excited to meet our newest Bulldogs on Wednesday at Welcome to Kindergarten! Thanks to the K team for preparing a night of meeting, greeting, learning, and fun.
This Week:
-
May 26th: Gr. 3 EQAO begins
-
May 28th: Welcome to Kindergarten 5-6 pm
-
May 30th Track & Field for Gr. 4 to 8
Upcoming Events:
Raise The Dough
Raise The Dough fundraiser with Ref’s is BACK! On Monday June 2, Tuesday June 3, and Wednesday June 4, if you say SUNNYBRAE when ordering, 20% of all pizza and ice cream sales will go to our school! Treat the fam with a weekday surprise, and spread the word to friends and neighbours!!
Fun Fair
Summer might feel very far away right now but the Sunnybrae Parent Council has already started preparations for our biggest fundraiser of the year: the 2025 Fun Fair! Our biggest expenses — and biggest attractions — are the inflatables we rent for the kids to enjoy. This year we are inviting sponsorships for the inflatables, and other Fun Fair attractions too. If you or your business/organization would like to be a Fun Fair sponsor, please get in touch with council chair Jenn Tough at [email protected] for more information!
Jump Rope for Heart / Hoops for Heart
This year, our JK to grade 6 students will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart while our intermediate students will be participating in Hoops for Heart. Our event date is Thursday, June 5 (rain date: TBA). Students will be outside for one block of the day to take part in various activities that show how to keep their heart healthy. Donations are welcome and may be made at the following online address: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/87365 Unfortunately, the school will not be able to accept cash. All donations are greatly appreciated! Let’s go, Bulldogs! This is an event we don’t want to skip!

Phones
When dialing the school, please listen to the message at the start before pressing ‘0’. If you press ‘0’ too soon the system will cut you off. Once you are through the first message you are directed to select the extension. For the office you can select ‘0’ or put in 27300. If you do not get an answer please leave a message.
Safe Arrival system for SCDSB schools – email [email protected] or call 1-888-885-8065 to report an absence (we recommend using the email where possible as there are ongoing problems with the phone messaging). Parents/guardians are responsible for reporting a child’s absence/arriving late prior to the start of the school day. Do not wait for the call from the school. Please note this system is to report student’s who will be absent or late not to report student’s leaving early. Those messages should be sent directly to your child’s teacher.
