Bulldog Bulletin October 5 to 9, 2026

From the Principal’s Desk:

It’s hard to believe that September is already behind us and October is here! As we settle into the fall season, we know that daily weather conditions can change quickly. Please help us ensure that students are dressed appropriately for whatever the weather may bring. This is also a great time to make sure jackets, sweaters, lunch bags, and other belongings are clearly labeled with your child’s name. It makes it much easier for lost items to find their way back home.

What a record-breaking week it has been at Sunnybrae!

Our final Terry Fox School Run total reached an incredible $1,880.45. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this important cause. We are also thrilled to share that we sold over 300 tickets for the upcoming Colts game. WOW! Bulldog spirit is alive and well!

A special thank you goes to Ms. Dennis and her eight student leaders for organizing and leading a very meaningful Truth and Reconciliation Assembly. Their hard work and leadership helped create an important opportunity for learning, reflection, and understanding.

We would also like to thank Ms. Gunson for organizing another fantastic Book Fair. It was wonderful to see so many students excited about reading and discovering new books.

Thank you as well to all of our amazing Bulldog families who attended Meet the Educator Night. We greatly appreciate the strong partnership between home and school. A special thank you to Ref’s Pizza for their support of the evening. If you were unable to attend, please be sure to connect with your child’s teacher to arrange a conference in November.

This week, we officially launched our Paws-itivity Awards, and we have been incredibly pleased with the number of students being recognized for demonstrating kindness, strong character, and positive citizenship. Celebrating the great things our students do each day is an important part of building a positive school culture.

We are also excited to announce the formation of our new Student Mental Health Team. This group will be looking for students in Grades 5-8 to help lead and promote several amazing Paws-itive initiatives throughout the school year.

October is already shaping up to be as busy as it is exciting. Cross-Country, Primary Fun Run, and Flag Football continue to thrive, with many other clubs, activities, and initiatives ready to get underway in the coming weeks.

Thank you, Bulldogs, for another fantastic week. We are proud of all that we are accomplishing together and look forward to everything October has in store.

Have a wonderful weekend, Bulldogs!

Tryouts for the junior girl’s volleyball team will begin October 5th. Tryouts will take place during the school day and students wanting to try out must have proper footwear to participate. We encourage all interested students to participate and showcase their skills. Parents and guardians are reminded to review the Ophea safety requirements ahead of tryouts to stay informed about any associated risks and help ensure a safe and positive experience for all. We are excited to offer this opportunity for students to get involved, build team spirit, and showcase their talents.
