Bulldog Bulletin Sept. 8, 2026

Welcome back Sunnybrae Bulldogs!

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I welcome everyone to the start of a new school year. My name is Tyler Cave, and I am honored to be joining the Sunnybrae community as your new Principal.

As a long-time educator, I have always believed that strong schools are built on strong relationships. Throughout my career, I have prioritized fostering a sense of community, belonging, and connection for students, staff, and families. When people feel valued, supported, and included, they are empowered to do their very best, and that is the kind of environment I am committed to continue cultivating here at Sunnybrae.

This is my second principalship, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be joining such a welcoming, supportive, and engaged school community. In the short time I have been here, I have already experienced the warmth and inclusiveness that make Sunnybrae such a special place. I am looking forward to getting to know our students, staff, families, and community partners as we work together to make this a fantastic school year.

As we begin this new chapter, I would like to extend a special thank you to Shane, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, Claire, and Victoria. Their hard work, dedication, and countless hours spent preparing our building for opening day have made a tremendous difference. They truly "tamed the jungle" and helped ensure that Sunnybrae looks absolutely fantastic as we welcome students back through our doors. We are grateful for all they have done to help prepare for a successful start to the year.

To our returning Bulldogs, welcome back. To those who are joining us for the first time, welcome to the pack. We are thrilled to have you here.

The year ahead will be filled with opportunities to learn, grow, celebrate successes, and support one another. Together, we will continue to build a school where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging and pride.

I look forward to a wonderful year of learning, laughter, and achievement with all of you.

Remember: Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!

Have a fantastic school year, Bulldogs!

STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE 2026-27

The SCDSB does not provide accident insurance coverage for student injuries that occur on school premises, at board-sponsored events, or during school extracurricular activities (e.g., athletics, clubs). However, accidents can and do happen. Injuries can result in substantial expenses that are not covered by the SCDSB or provincial health care. If families do not have existing or sufficient extended health or dental coverage, a variety of plans and benefits at reasonable annual prices can be found through either:

Participation in extracurricular activities (e.g., athletics, clubs, etc.) requires the purchase of this insurance, or other extended health and dental coverage.
