Vice Principal’s Message
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful vacation doing the things you love and being with the people who mean the most to you. I hope you are all ready for a fantastic year filled with exciting challenges and opportunities to learn and grow. I hope this year we can all work together to help each other feel like we all belong. Remember, students: you are meant to be here. Your presence enriches our school. Remember that your views and opinions are valuable. Set high goals for yourselves. Let this be your best academic year ever. Let this be the year that you ace a school team, star in a show, join a new club. I hope when it is time for you to leave Sunnybrae that you will go into the world as individuals the world can depend upon.

Terry Fox Run
Sunnybrae is, once again, participating in the Terry Fox Run. This year’s theme is “No Matter What”. No matter the obstacle, no matter the journey, no matter the odds. Our goal is $1500 and donations may be made through purchasing a t-shirt at schoolcash online (due by September 16th) or at the Sunnybrae Donation page, https://schools.terryfox.ca/SunnybraePSInnisfil . “Toonies for Terry” (paper shoes to be displayed in the foyer) may also be purchased during morning recesses. Students should listen to the announcements for further information. Our run will be on Monday, September 23, 2024, and the donation site is available from September 9 until September 30. Bulldogs, let’s try like Terry and do our best….No Matter What!!
Canine Ambassador Team
We are happy to welcome our canine friend, Ollie back to Sunnybrae PS. Ollie will be with Kerry McKay, Special Education teacher at all times in the school and on a leash. Ollie has been trained and certified by Sweet Charity and is part of the Canine Ambassador Program supported by Simcoe County District School Board. Ollie has completed a rigorous training and certification that includes both the Canadian Kennel Club Canine Good Neighbour certification and Sweet Charity’s own Obedience and Control test. The goal of the dog in the school is to support staff and student well-being and positive outcomes for everyone’s mental health. We respect the needs of all students in providing a safe and inclusive learning environment. Please let us know if you have any specific concerns regarding the presence of Ollie in our school. Thank you for your on-going support.

Don’t forget if you are interested in being part of Sunnybrae’s school council remember to complete the school council nomination form through schoolcash online by September 16th. If you are interested in being a co-chairperson or secretary please email [email protected] by September 16, 2024 as well. If elections are necessary all candidates will be notified via email by September 18, 2024.

Exciting news! Innisfil Teen Nights are back and better than ever! That’s right, your favorite hangout spots will be buzzing with music, Nintendo Switch, art, games, movie nights, food, friends and more, every week.

• Innisfil Library Lakeshore Branch on Fridays
