Principal’s Message: Thanks to our amazing council, we are in the process of ordering new jerseys for our sports teams. Unfortunately, we have 20 jerseys that have gone missing over the past few years. If your child has participated on a team in the past, could you please check their wardrobe for any of these jerseys and return them ASAP. Thanks for your support!
Next week, we will be mailing attendance letters of concern for students who have missed a month or more of school (i.e., 20+ days). We have done our best to take into account medical reasons for absences, but the Ministry requires us to monitor attendance and make attendance counsellor referrals as needed to support students in attending school consistently.
Education Week is May 6-10th. We will be celebrating our Educational Assistants, Designated Early Childhood Educators, custodians, Child and Youth Worker, and our Senior Administrative Assistant. Please join us in recognizing these fabulous members of our school team.

Yard Sale (April 28th)

- If you have items to get rid of, you can DONATE them to our Sunnybrae Yard Sale Table! All money raised at this table will go towards much-needed technology at Sunnybrae Public School. No clothing, stuffed toys, or heavy furniture at the donation table, please.
- Donations can be dropped off on the morning of the sale starting at 9 am.

Dental Screening-Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit
Dental staff from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit will be visiting your child’s school Sunnybrae Public School on May 2 & 3, 2024. The Oral Health Team will be providing FREE dental screenings for students in grades JK, SK, 2, 4 & 7.
If you do not want your child to have a dental screening, please fill out the School Dental Screening Non-Participation Form or call the Health Unit’s Dental Screening Program as soon as possible at 705-721-7520 or toll free 1 -877-721-7520, extension 8342, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is a chance your child may be screened if we do not receive your non-participation request before May 2, 2024. Please do not contact the school to make your request.
Book Fair
Attention book lovers! Our Spring Scholastic Book Fair is quickly approaching! We will be open to students only from May 8th - 10th during regular school hours. Proceeds from all sales support our Sunnybrae students' love of reading. We look forward to seeing your child(ren) at the book fair. Thank you for your ongoing support and happy spring!
Tour for Humanity Student Workshops
The innovative, award-winning Tour for Humanity will be visiting Sunnybrae on April 22nd (grades 6-8) and May 3rd (grades 3-5). The Tour for Humanity is a 30-seat, wheelchair accessible, mobile human rights education centre designed to bring The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center's programming directly to students and educators across Canada. The program incorporates multimedia to provide students with a rich and interactive learning experience. The students will be undertaking equity and diversity workshops for approximately one hour on the above mentioned days. We are looking forward to an enlightening experience! Student cost is $6 per person. Please ensure you have made a payment for your child to ensure we can continue to host these amazing programs.
Teen Nights
Get ready for Innisfil Teen Nights, a space just for YOU! Hang out with friends at three drop-in locations every week for music, Nintendo Switch, art, games, movie nights, food, and more!
Lefroy Arena on Mondays starting April 8th (5:00 to 7:30 pm)
Innisfil YMCA on Wednesdays starting April 10th (5:00 to 7:30 pm)
Innisfil Library Lakeshore Branch on Fridays starting April 12th (5:00 to 7:30 pm)

Teen Nights Information for Parents
The Town of Innisfil is partnering with the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library and YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka to launch Teen Nights at community hubs across Innisfil. Youth in Grades 7 to 12 can visit free, safe spaces to gather, connect and have fun.
While most nights are just for teens, community members, parents and guardians are invited to check out the spaces with their teens at special launch events, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on:
These launch events will include fun activities, food, giveaways, and the opportunity to share ideas and register participants for Teen Nights.
