This week:

  • May 13th:  Scholastic Book Fair open to Students in AM only (last day)
  • May 14th: Grade 5’s to Innisfil Central for Outdoor Ed with Nantyr Enviro Class
  • May 15th: Gr. 8 Skilled Trades Expo @ Elmvale Arena
  • May 15th: Intermediate Co-Ed Rugby Regionals at Steele Street
  • May 17th: Volunteer Appreciation in library 11:00 am to 12:00 pm

  • May 27th Gr. 3 EQAO begins
  • June 3rd:  Gr. 6 EQAO begins

 

Raise The Dough with Refs Pizza

The weather is getting warmer and it’s time to PUMP UP THE FUN! At the end of this month, Sunnybrae will be partnering with Ref’s Pizza in Stroud to RAISE THE DOUGH!!  On Wednesday May 29, get your friends, family, and neighbours to call Ref’s Stroud location and mention SUNNYBRAE PUBLIC SCHOOL when ordering! 

Please consider PRE-ORDERING your pizza with the team at Ref’s to ensure your family’s hungry bellies are prioritised at the time that suits you best! Call 705-294-8844 and don’t forget to mention SUNNYBRAE’S RAISE THE DOUGH event when you place your order to donate a portion of the cost to our school!

 

In Memory of Our Custodian

In memory of Adele Stewartt,  a custodian at Sunnybrae until the time of her passing in 2021 we ask students and staff to wear purple on May 15th (Adele’s birthday). Adele was a super person and she did so many extras for Sunnybrae, including painting the bird houses and a sign in the courtyard and helping students when needed. Purple was Adele's favourite colour. For those who wish, please wear purple on May 15 in honour of Adele.

 

Fun Fair

The biggest and most highly-anticipated fundraising event of the year…the FUN FAIR is happening on Wednesday June 12 from 5pm until 8pm!!! We’ll have a maze & slide! We’ll have face painting! We’ll have food trucks and bbq and freezies and snacks and hopefully we’ll have YOU coming out to support our event!! The Parent Council has been working hard for months to make this event happen, but we need a little help from our school community.

  • Class Baskets: We are asking our teachers to make up CLASS BASKETS for our Silent Auction table! The teacher will pick a theme, and then collect items on that theme to put together and auction off. Please watch for emails from your child’s teacher(s) revealing the class basket theme, and help your child find something to donate.
  • Donations for Silent Auction: If your business/workplace (or that of your partner or family member or friend or neighbour) can donate an item or a gift card/voucher that could be in the Silent Auction, please get in touch with us! Donations are credited and donors are thanked, or they can be kept anonymous if the donor prefers. Email [email protected] for more details!
  • Volunteers: please consider helping out on the day of the fair! We are excited to offer this fun event to our students and community members, but our committee is extremely small, and we need a lot of bodies to help make our dreams come true. Help is greatly appreciated in the following roles: 
  1. Set-up, starting mid-afternoon on Wed June 12: collecting donated tables, erecting pop-up tents, setting up BBQ area
  2. Supervising during the event: ticket collecting, ensuring inflatables are used safely, helping kids Paint the Bus etc. The more volunteers we have for these tasks, the shorter each volunteer’s “shift” can be, allowing everyone a chance to enjoy the event with their family!
  3. Take-down after the event: if you can’t help out during working hours, please consider staying behind after 8pm to help take down the tents and return tables etc.

Unlike volunteering inside the school, you do not need your police check to help out during the Fair. All we ask for is a good attitude and a desire to help the school! If you feel like you have an hour or two to spare, please contact our Parent Council Chairperson at [email protected] 

  • If you happen to have (or know!) a high school student, please remind them that volunteering at our event is an easy way to earn those precious HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEER HOURS! We will be contacting Nantyr Shores SS to ask for some students, but your student can secure their place by emailing the Council Chair at the address in the paragraph above!
