Principal’s Message: Please remind your students if they go out for lunch to behave respectfully and responsibly off school property. We have had a few complaints from neighbours about students breaking the nets, littering, swearing, and fighting at the public park. Thank you for your support. Enjoy the long weekend!

Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope for Heart is an event nobody wants to skip! On Thursday, June 6th (rain date to be determined) students will be outside participating in jump rope activities in an effort to raise funds for the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation. Donations are welcome! No donation is too small - every little bit helps to make a difference! Book Swap
The library is once again hosting a summer book swap. Students are invited to bring in slightly used or new books to donate. Donations are now being accepted and are due no later than Monday, June 10th. Students who donate a book(s) will be invited to the library from Monday, June 10th to Thursday, June 13th to pick out a new-to-them book to keep and read over the summer.
Raise The Dough with Refs Pizza
The weather is getting warmer and it’s time to PUMP UP THE FUN! At the end of May, Sunnybrae will be partnering with Ref’s Pizza in Stroud to RAISE THE DOUGH!! On Tuesday May 28 AND Wednesday May 29, get your friends, family, and neighbours to call Ref’s Stroud location and mention SUNNYBRAE PUBLIC SCHOOL when ordering ANY FOOD for pick-up!!
Please consider PRE-ORDERING your pizza for Tuesday or Wednesday (or hey, both days!) with the team at Ref’s to ensure your family’s hungry bellies are prioritised at the time that suits you best! Call 705-294-8844 and don’t forget to mention SUNNYBRAE’S RAISE THE DOUGH event when you place your pick-up order to donate a portion of the cost to our school!
Fun Fair
The biggest and most highly-anticipated fundraising event of the year…the FUN FAIR is happening on Wednesday June 12 from 5pm until 8pm!!! We’ll have a maze & slide! We’ll have face painting! We’ll have food trucks and bbq and freezies and snacks and hopefully we’ll have YOU coming out to support our event!! The Parent Council has been working hard for months to make this event happen, but we need a little help from our school community.
- Class Baskets: We are asking our teachers to make up CLASS BASKETS for our Silent Auction table! The teacher will pick a theme, and then collect items on that theme to put together and auction off. Please watch for emails from your child’s teacher(s) revealing the class basket theme, and help your child find something to donate.
- Donations for Silent Auction: If your business/workplace (or that of your partner or family member or friend or neighbour) can donate an item or a gift card/voucher that could be in the Silent Auction, please get in touch with us! Donations are credited and donors are thanked, or they can be kept anonymous if the donor prefers. Email [email protected] for more details!
- Volunteers: please consider helping out on the day of the fair! We are excited to offer this fun event to our students and community members, but our committee is extremely small, and we need a lot of bodies to help make our dreams come true. Help is greatly appreciated in the following roles:
- Set-up, starting mid-afternoon on Wed June 12: collecting donated tables, erecting pop-up tents, setting up BBQ area
- Supervising during the event: ticket collecting, ensuring inflatables are used safely etc. The more volunteers we have for these tasks, the shorter each volunteer’s “shift” can be, allowing everyone a chance to enjoy the event with their family!
- Take-down after the event: if you can’t help out during working hours, please consider staying behind after 8pm to help take down the tents and return tables etc.
Unlike volunteering inside the school, you do not need your police check to help out during the Fair. All we ask for is a good attitude and a desire to help the school! If you feel like you have an hour or two to spare, please contact our Parent Council Chairperson at [email protected]
- If you happen to have (or know!) a high school student, please remind them that volunteering at our event is an easy way to earn those precious HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEER HOURS! We will be contacting Nantyr Shores SS to ask for some students, but your student can secure their place by emailing the Council Chair at the address in the paragraph above!
